2 years old

Last week, Emily turned 2 years old!  She is turning into such a big girl.  We still call her a baby some times, mostly when we talk about our two baby girls, but she does so many big girl things now.  She says so many words.  When I took her to the doctor for her 2 year old check-up, the doctor asked me about her vocabulary and I really didn't know what to say.  I don't really know how she compares to other 2 year olds.  So I started writing down all the words she knows...not just the ones she can repeat...only the ones she uses correctly by herself.  The handout I got from the doctor said most 2 year olds have a vocabulary of 50 words or more.  So far we are up to 150 words!  I was quite surprised.  I would have guessed about 40 words or so.  It's also very reassuring because Emily is so shy.  She hardly says a word around other people so some people have said things that have made me worry a little that she was a little behind.  Now I'm not worried at all.  As far as her growth is concerned, she finally weighs 22 lbs. 3 1/2 oz. (4th%) and is 33 inches tall (30th%).  We have a new doctor and I think she was a little concerned about this, but I was thrilled.  At 18 months, Emily only weighed 19 lbs. 14 oz. (below the 3rd%) and was 31 inches tall (25th%) so we are making progress!  I think she is definitely ready to start potty training and someone told me about a book that I am going to read (Potty Training in Less Than a Day), but I want to wait until we get back from our vacation to Oregon to really be serious about that.
We had a party for Emily's birthday at the park with lots of family.  My house is too small to hold that many people.  We are getting so many people in the family that we are considering combining the parties so that we celebrate them all at once for the month.  We had three this month!  Anyways, at Emily's party I made a cute flower cupcake cake.  It was a lot easier than I thought it would be thanks to Randi's help and her mom's supplies.  And it turned out perfect!
It was really windy at the party, but Emily still enjoyed eating her cupcakes and playing on the playground.  She was really into presents this year.  Once she opened the first one, all she wanted to do was play with it.  But after we got her to open the second, she figured it out and did really well.  She has really enjoyed all her new toys.  She got a stroller and a baby doll which she loves because now she can really imitate mom.  She got a few other things which she really enjoys as well.

After Emily had gone to bed that night, we thought it would be cute to put Annie in the doll stroller.  It was!
